The municipality of Tías is situated in the eastern part of the island and to the north borders with San Bartolomé and to the north-east with Tinajo. The coast has more cliffs than the part which runs from Punta Tiñoso to Guacimeta. The centre of this municipality has been built around the houses of the landowners who dominated this area in the past. Until a few decades ago, agriculture was the main economic activity. However, nowadays, tourism has taken first place. This area is known for the farming of tomatoes, onions and grapes.

La Geria Natural Park is situated in the northern part of this municipality. Notice how man has changed the landscape by digging holes in the ground and surronding them with small walls in order to protect the vines from the wind.
Puerto del Carmen, the main tourist resort, is also situated in this municipality and is famous for its excelent beaches.
